2nd Monkspath Scout Troop is celebrating after winning the Solihull Blythe District Night Hike for the first time. The annual event, which is open to Scouts and Explorer Scouts from 10 to 18 years of age, is a true test of night time navigation skills, stamina and determination, held over 9 miles for Scouts and a 12 mile route for Explorers, around the Warwickshire Countryside. The 2nd Monkspath team of 10 and 11 year olds were one of the youngest of the 145 walkers in the 21 teams entered in this year's event, held on the night of Saturday 12th March.

It was the largest Hike held to date due to a recent reorganisation of Scouting within Solihull, which saw the East and West Districts join together to form the Solihull Blythe District, which has 15 Scout Groups. Such large numbers required an army of more than 30 Scout Leaders to man checkpoints, supervise walkers and provide breakfast for those that made it back to the Farm Headquarters before Dawn.

2nd Monkspath Scout Group has over 100 members in its Beaver, Cub and Scout sections, for whom it provides fun and character-building activities on a weekly basis.
