SOLIHULL SCOUTS SCOOP TOP AWARDS AT NATIONAL EVENT

Scouts across Solihull are celebrating after a clean sweep at this year's Malvern Challenge - a test of teamwork, ingenuity and skills such as climbing, shooting and first-aid.

The annual event held in Gloucestershire attracts more than 3,500 Scouts and Guides from across the country and this year the two challenges were both won by local youngsters.

4th Knowle Sea Scouts finished first in front of more than 400 other teams to take the Malvern Challenge and 2nd Monkspath Scouts won the more testing Cotswold Challenge ahead of nearly 150 teams of older Scouts and Explorers.

Stuart Bevan, captain of the victorious 2nd Monkspath team paid tribute to the combined effort and all round skills of team members Kat Koster-Shadbolt and Lucie Thomas and the victory was made even sweeter as the event was run despite appalling weather conditions.
